COURTHOUSE INFORMATION

The Cornwall Courthouse is located at 29 Second Street West. This Courthouse is home to both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice for the region. There are 10 courtrooms, and the local Crown Attorney’s office and the Criminal Duty Counsel office are located on site. Cornwall’s Provincial Offences Court is situated only two blocks away from the Cornwall Courthouse, at 26 Pitt Street.

The Courthouse is open between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm on weekdays. There is no security screening to pass through prior to entering the building. There is very limited free parking available at the Courthouse, but there are 5 paid parking municipal lots on the blocks surrounding the building. There is also free parking in the lots near Lamoureux Park. For a detailed map of the parking lots near the Cornwall Courthouse, please consult the City of Cornwall’s website.

If you would like more information about the courthouse, including the requirements to request interpreter services, courtroom layouts, and guides on how to prepare for court appearances, please consult the Justice Ontario website. If you have to appear in either the Ontario Court of Justice, or the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ministry of the Attorney General publishes daily court lists at 4:30 pm for the proceedings that will occur the following day. These lists are sometimes unreliable, as matters often get moved to other courtrooms on the day of the appearance. If you are required to appear at the courthouse, DUVADIE Law will ensure that you are informed of exactly where you need to be and at what time you need to be there (as soon as this information becomes available).
